IN MEMORY OF PROF KOFFI AWOONOR

Hey! Pacy hunter

I thought you were my brother

You are dark like 'our' mother

Should I be afraid of this banter?

Awoonor! Awoonor! Run like the panther

The earth is really a peaceful matter

No longer afraid to hold your anger

Embrace the friendly hunger

They could gloat for whatever wickedness

This killings in Africa is too mindless

Is this really poverty or illiterate redress?

Religious or political harness?

Al-shabab!!! You have murdered

Scattered and plundered

All those you have angered

Families weeping the unfathered

All of us will someday kiss the earth

There is always a redress on your death

Which I'm sure one day, will be red

You will be laid on a burial bed

We won't breathe the dust forever

If you scatter pellets, will it be forever?

There is a season to lose, evil diva

Sullen act of wickedness on a lame river

All of you together is a shortage to Awoonor

Kenyatta and Mahama is it yet uhuru?

Sun of shaka Zulu

Smile on us! Forget this shabab burrow

Who has nothing to offer our world

But deceit of religion on a defenceless mall

Women and children buried in a hall

Writing long history of hatred on a cold wall

And painted our Awoonor on a graffiti

Bragging infamy for countries to writ

To mourn a man who went to read wit

Covered in emotionless wreathe

Our earth is stained again Awoonor

This religion is a provoking donor

Of grief instead of honour

What did we get? Bloodied Awoonor

Legacy has been stained again

What is your gain?

For gunning defenceless men in a rain...

Just to gloat? And inflict pain???

Rest in utopia with the utopians

Cursed remains those fallopians

That bore those barbarians

May they all die in defiance

In memory of Prof. Koffi Awoonor
